Bone Conduction Technology Frequently Asked Questions

Xtreme Bone Conduction Headphoneds with mp3 player

Are bone conduction headphones right for me?

If you're a swimmer, cyclist, runner, walker, or like to listen to music, podcasts, or audiobooks at work, then our bone conduction headphones are an excellent choice. They can be used on their own as the 16GB internal memory allows you to store over 4000 .mp3 audio files too, which means that you can swim, run, cycle or exercise freely with total focus without needing your phone.

Can I use them with my phone to listen to music and answer calls?

Yes. Our bone conduction headphones can be paired to your smartphone using Bluetooth which means you can take calls, listen to music, podcasts or audiobooks using the one-touch controls just like normal Bluetooth headphones.

I wear a hearing aid, are they right for me?

If you suffer from hearing loss, bone conduction headphones help you listen to sounds better because sound bypasses the external and middle ear transmitting sound directly to the inner ear. If you wear in-the-ear (ITE) or invisible (IIC) hearing aids, our headphones are ideal for you as they can be worn comfortably and at the same time as your hearing aids.

If you wear receiver-in-canal (RIC), behind-the-ear (BTE), or open-fit hearing aids, bone conduction headphones may not be ideal since they may contact the top part of your hearing apparatus.

I suffer from Tinnitus would these help me?

Yes. Our bone conduction headphones are a lifesaver if you suffer from tinnitus. People with tinnitus have a hard time listening to music using normal headphones as they block out all external sounds, which makes tinnitus noises sound louder. Our headphones allow you to hear environmental noises and music at the same time, which acts as a distraction from your tinnitus. They're a great way to help you relax. You can wear them while swimming too!

Are they comfortable to wear?

Yes. Our bone conduction headphones have an incredibly comfortable fit. They are completely wireless and do not fit into your ear like normal headphones. They also come with exclusive in-ear swimming plugs.

Are bone conduction headphones safer than earbuds?
Yes. Bone conduction headphones are safer than traditional headphones due to their design and implementation. Since they aren't driven air into your ears they have less chance to cause hearing issues directly related to your eardrum than normal headphones can cause when played too loud and long.

Are there any benefits to using bone conduction headphones?

Yes. Bone conduction headphones, transmit sound vibrations through the facial bones which means that harmful sound waves bypass the eardrums and go directly to your inner ear. This allows those suffering from hearing difficulties to enjoy music. They also do not cause ear infections or ear wax build-up due to the open ear design.

Another big advantage is that you stay aware of environmental noises while using your headphones. This is especially useful to cyclists, runners, or if you're listening in heavy traffic areas helping you avoid traffic hazards.

*As with all headphones, listening to music and high volumes for long periods can cause hearing loss.*

Can I swim in them?

Yes. Our Bone Conduction Headphones are backed by the highest international standard rating of IP68 and can withstand dust, dirt and sand, and are watreproof under constant submersion up to a maximum depth of 1.5m for up to 1 hour.

The first number of the IP is the rating the IEC assigned a unit for resistance to solids. The highest rating of six means 8-hours protection against “harmful” dust, sand or dirt under direct contact for 8-hours.

The second number represents the waterproof rating.

Again the highest rating of eight guarantees that our Bone Conduction Headphones can be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water and are fully waterproof for 1 hour.

Can other people hear bone conduction audio?

Bone conduction headphones are harder to hear for people around you, though not completely silent. Since there are no drivers creating sound vibration that can escape your ear canal, others can't hear it unless they are very close or touching you.
Bone Conduction Speaker Frequently Asked Questions

What is the frequency range reproduced from the speaker (without a resonant cavity as if the speaker itself was attached to the test equipment pickup microphone)?

The frequency range is 120 hz-16khz. Performance depends on what material it touches. There is a inside that you can use while on a phone call.

Is the dual speaker a set of 2 separate speakers or 1 unit with 2 speakers in it?

It's a separate speaker. 2 speakers can be set up a stereo sound system, but you need to purchase 2-speakers. Only two units maximum can be paired.

If I touch this to my head, only I can hear it?

Yes, you're right. It can be heard by yourself only, because of the bone conduction technology.

How many watts output is the unit?

The speaker is 3 watts but can deliver 5 times the volume of portable Bluetooth Speakers because it converts the entire surface it is resting on into a speaker. The bigger the surface area, the louder the maximum volume will be.

What's the maximum volume in dBs?

The maximum sound volume is about 110dB.

What's the battery life when charged?

At maximum volume, the working time will be 1.5-2 hours. If you keep the volume at 80%, the working time will be 3.5 - 4 hours.

Is it waterproof?

No. The unit isn't waterproof.

When should I use the suction cup?

The suction cup should only be used on a glossy surface or flat plane including a vertical surface. The adhesive tape is preferred option.
